Support Worker –Kapiti| Permanent Contract

We are seeking experienced and compassionate Support Workers to join our Kapiti team.  This role is ideal for individuals who are patient, proactive, and committed to empowering people with disabilities to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

The Role

This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and is passionate about empowering others to build confidence, independence, and meaningful community connections. You will need to be physically fit and comfortable supporting an active rural lifestyle, including walks, outdoor activities, community outings, and hands-on daily routines. .

Working alongside the person, you’ll encourage the development of practical life skills, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing everyday household tasks, and achieving personal goals.

You’ll also play an important role in supporting emotional wellbeing by implementing established Positive Behaviour Support strategies and behaviour support plans. Your ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent will help create a safe, respectful, and empowering environment where the person can thrive.

This is a permanent full-time position, working 72 hours per fortnight on a rostered basis. The roster includes wakeover shifts, weekends, and public holidays

About You

You are patient, reliable, and motivated to create positive change. You understand the importance of clear boundaries, structure, and empathy when supporting people with complex needs. You are comfortable with household tasks, can model healthy routines, and bring the resilience needed to respond to challenging situations calmly and professionally.

Previous experience in disability or mental health support is highly desirable, particularly if you have supported individuals who benefit from behaviour support strategies. Your ability to follow detailed plans, work collaboratively in a team, and build trust will be essential.
